Open-source, community-powered CCleaner alternative for Windows
FluentCleaner is a free, MIT-licensed cleaner for Windows from the developer behind Cleanmgr+. It was written as a modern take on the old CCleaner, and the pitch is simple: no upsell, no telemetry claims to untangle, and cleaning rules you can read.
Under the hood it parses the community-maintained winapp2.ini database, the same rule set that powered CCleaner's application cleaners. Each entry names the folders and registry keys it touches, so nothing is a vague sweep across your drive. The developer says nothing runs until you select it.
There are two editions. The main WinUI 3 edition looks the part but needs Windows 10 version 2004 or later and a separate Windows App SDK 2.0.1 runtime. FluentCleaner Classic is a small WinForms build on .NET Framework 4.8 for older or locked-down machines. The main x64 zip in the 26.09.01 release is about 49.9 MB, and the Classic zip about 1.8 MB.
It is young. The repository was created in April 2026, so expect rough edges and fast changes. Because it deletes files, back up anything important before a big clean.
One warning: the project says it has no affiliation with fluentcleaner.org or any other third-party download site. Download it only from the official GitHub releases, or install the modern edition with WinGet.
